BLOG CHANGES ETC

As threatened, I’ve futzed with the blog “theme” and title. It’s easy to do, so if you see anything at the WordPress Theme Viewer that you like, feel free to make suggestions. Likewise on the title – a subject that resulted in some not entirely nice and friendly discussion on the CONTENTIONS IS MOSTLY DEAD post.

I kinda like this black theme. Not sure if it’s true what they say about not going back…

Bruce, NV has offered to act as an “author,” and provide content. Anyone else interested? Even centralizing links or reviewing g-group discussion strikes me as sufficient justification for putting up posts, and otherwise for maintaining a blog presence.

Also, I put three blogs on the “blogroll” – Contentions, HotAir, and the Optimistic Conservative by JE Dyer. In all my surfing, I’ve rarely found much use in blogrolls, especially the ones that list hundreds of blogs, but suggestions for additions would also be welcome.

As long as he doesn’t require payment in heavy metals, he’d be very welcome to author, in my view. That is, we’d be lucky to have him. Edit function? Yes that should be quite possible – will require plugging in a new plug-in, and choosing among available options (which often come with additional features like comment-rating, registration, etc.). I was kinda hoping that it would be pre-built into the new theme.

Before I started getting crazy on bells’n'whistles, I wanted to be sure that the blog was going to make it from the infant at least to the waddling stage, but am feeling more confident about that now. Will look into it soon.

How do you like us in black? Any alternate name you want to look at up there?

The demise of Contentions’ “Comments,” has led me to discover new allies such as Simon at PJ’s, Hot Air, and, of course, your dear self, CKM.

None of the above seems as user friendly as stalin.com (salon) which allows one to see a poster’s previous posts, a way of seeing if you think he/she is worth a response.

Again, are Hufflepuff and stalin.com successful ventures? I mean do they pay for themselves, their featured writers, money for improving their technology from ad and membership revenues?

I tried black on my own ‘blog’ which I have not updated for several months now. It’s a little off putting I’m afraid. I think we need lighter, prettier, more optimistic fare

I suggest adding powerline.com to the blogroll. The posts are always impressively well-reasoned and informative.

Your pleasant, cheerful, helpful, compliant, and all-powerful Web Czar is willing to add any blog suggestions to the roll that won’t get him into trouble with the FBI, but would appreciate actual links. Best format would be: Blog name, link, short description.

I’m going to start a thread on the group-list devoted to BLOG suggestions, as I think that might be the best way to handle these matters.

In my part of the country, no matter how many terms they get, the politicians never serve.

OK you Zombies, thanks a bunch for not telling me about the new Zombie site! I followed the 2007 NIE Iran report debunked by the BND to smoke you out. What a relief, I was suffering from anti-Zionism withdrawals after Contentions disbanded comments.
