Iran and China

Iran’s Ayatollah Shirazi has condemned China for suppressing its Uighur population in Xinjiang Province. Ahmadinejad, as far as anyone can tell, has not said anything publicly. Ahmadinejad knows that his greatest allies are Venezuela and North Korea. He doesn’t wish to offend Marxist leaders. He needs North Korea to supply him with nuclear weapons and–what is more important–missiles to deliver them. North Korea may well be able to smuggle these weapons into Iran, just as it was able to build a nuclear facility in Syria.

Muslim theocracies have always suppressed Communism. Communist states have always persecuted their Muslim minorities. The fact that they do so shows that they share a belief in a society that does not allow freedom of speech or freedom of belief. They may persecute each other, but they do so as part of a united front against societies that allow liberty.

And of course, Iran, Venezuela, and North Korea hate and fear Israel. They are entirely unaware that they do not share a boundary with Israel. They have no idea that they have no tangible disagreements with Israel. They don’t even care about the Palestinians, except for the fact that supporting Palestinians is a way of opposing Israel. Iran, in particluar, opposes Sunnis and does not like Arabs. The Marxist-Islamic Alliance makes no sense. However, senseless movements are typically more dangerous than logical ones.

George, I read every line that you wrote and you are correct in every line, but,as, the US is ineffectually dealing with an existential economic threat,in that context, what relevance does any of this have to us right at the moment?

I find it hard to believe that North Korea hates Israel,George. The NK regime isn’t intimately involved with the hordes of the Blue-and-White Peril and probably doesn’t give a rap.

    fuster,
North Korea sent not only planes but pilots to fight Israel in 1967 and 1973. It recently built a nuclear facility in Syria, which Israel destroyed. It makes no sense for North Korea to fight Israel, of course, but the fact that it is illogical doesn’t mean that it didn’t happen.

George, the MIGs and the trainers/pilots were probably done for the USSR more than out of animus.
I would think that the Syria installation and any other weapon and/or technology sales are motivated by a great need for cash.
I can understand you assigning the NKs to the hostile column, but doubt if it’s smart to count them as Israeli haters.

    fuster,
You are assuming that the leaders of North Korea are rational. Letting millions of one’s citizens starve is not rational. Turning the country into a uniquely isolated state is not rational. Letting one’s air force fight battles for the USSR is not rational, and was not anything the other satellite states ever did.

George, I can’t see how you can make a case for hatred amongst the North Koreans without any evidence of emotional interaction or showing that Israeli hatred is indoctrinated into the people.
Simply saying that it’s a product of irrationality is not much. Most people enjoy being irrational in their own way, absent a push in the same direction.

Any idea of their feelings that you have are likely a reflection of your own feelings.

    fuster,
Creating a murderous famine–something Communist leaders almost always do–is not a way to retain power. Keeping your country poor and miserable is not a way to retain power. Fighting against a distant country with which you have no dispute is not a way to retain power. What all these policies reflect is Marxist dogma, which includes a belief in the beauty of poverty and–ever since the Bandung Conference in 1955–a belief that Israel is the most evil force on the planet.

The Bandung Conference was called to affirm that Israel is evil or was that just one of it’s published conclusions?

George…It’s tag team time with fuster. I once had a discussion with her on that other board that went on for over 100 posts. She will wear you out. Once I even spied her at post #204. Don’t ask why I was still there. So, fuster…let’s rumble. George, do yourself a favor and go listen to some nice music and relax.

    I’M NOW IT!

These are NOT unsupported assumptions, fuster. Who knows why, but the NORKS have been fighting Israel for years.

While we’re rumbling, be aware that I agree that NK has been steadily aligned against Israel.
What I’m disagreeing with is the idea that some strong emotion directed particularly toward the Israelis, George says hatred, is supplying the motivation.

fuster, maybe the Norks hate Israel because Israel keeps bombing their customers. Maybe Kim Il got badly circumsised and blames Jews for starting the whole thing…who knows. It acts like a duck, fuster. I have numerous instances in my life of dealing with Americans who have never seen a Jew…who hate Jews. Why does this surprise you? We are such a people that we can inspire what might be called, “remote hatred.”

As for the one very small cup….

The NKs don’t really have a need to hate Jews, Steven. They’ve got a long history of bitterness with their near neighbors even before getting to their recent, post-Commie list of villians.
Most of their conflict with the Israelis might be simply based on their need to hustle a buck from weaponry export.
