Las Vegas Flood Watch

We’ve got flood watches today for the entire county. Day 5 or 6 of the “monsoon” season, which leads to about an inch or two of rain, but humidity everyday in the 20s, quite a change from our normal 4 or 5 percent. If any of your friends are out here this weekend, give ‘em a heads up. Even 2 inches of rain can lead to serious urban flooding. Turn around don’t drown.
Here’s a recent story of the ‘99 floods. There also were big ones in 03 and 05.

Yes, flood watches everywhere but here, where, ironically, my husband is the big kahoona in flood data. Austin is as dry as the proverbial bone and looks to stay that way for the foreseeable future.

NO kidding! Flood watches just east of me, and north across the mountains. Doesn’t take much to start a flood in the Mojave. A well-taken warning. Weekend recreationists of the Southwest, beware.
