Don’t feel bad. She deleted my comment because I dissed Enya- how’s that for thin skin?
Enya does suck, and destroys any resonance your remembrance might have had, btw
OT: Actually, Ms D, your comment (and her response) went into “pending” while she was apparently trying to figure out what happened, since she had originally intended for it to be a closed thread. Things got out of control from there. By the time anyone (me) got back to the “pending” comments, the thread had been closed.
@ms. docweasel – There are about a million tributes to 9/11. If you like another better, you could have put it in your comment. Enya wasn’t the point, your particular taste isn’t the point. My post was one of thousands that paid tribute to 9/11. Did you police all according to your taste, or do have a particular fascination for this blog?
RCAR’s complaints about “censorship” are stupid. He’s an author here. He could post all day, every day. Why he doesn’t, I couldn’t guess.
I must point out my disgust at the nonsense that has overtaken the comment threads at all of the 9/11 posts. It just makes the point I tried, poorly, to make in “Never Forget”: we are forgetting and it’s become one more cudgel to bludgeon one another with, or to use as a gateway to a comedy routine. I wish I had turned off comments to my posts.
Well, have it your way folks. I will never forget.
Bruce – I guessed you might feel that way – but people here are commenting on a post that is really just a link to another post.
I may have some other unpleasant things to say on this subject later, but look again at the photo I posted up there, and consider the magnitude of suffering that those gentlemen had to put aside in order to enjoy the “Hitler killed” headline – and to live on afterward.
@Barbara –
I think you don’t really understand the concept of “comments”- they are so we can tell YOU what is relevant, not the other way around. The post part is where you have your say, we respond. Are we clear now?
By fuster: @ms. docweasel – I support choice also, but I’m not sure that the person you’re lecturing does.
If you’re referring to me, au contraire. Even after Barbara’s situation, I still elected to NOT disable comments. But because you (or in this case, docweasel) have the right to comment, doesn’t mean that you ought to comment.

Well, I think we should thank the gentleman who did the twitter feed for his “service” on the National Day of Service. Very moving.

This woman hasn’t forgottn her husband. And there are thousands more like her.
Being in finance, “knew” (telephonically) people from Cantor. We never spoke again after 9/11.

@CK MacLeod – What happened to the comments? Did they go poof when the thread closed itself?
September 11th, 2009 at 11:53 pm
The comments are still there, in a state of rigor mortis.

@CK MacLeod – That was neatly done, Sir. Neatly done.

That post at the HA GR may have been a record-setter trackback-wise, by the way. Very popular post.
Yet, when I read it, and when I watch the 9/11 memorials, I’m filled with incorrect and unspeakable thoughts about how we’ve assimilated the event.

@Bruce, NV – I don’t think that you need worry that people who were in NYC , served that day, and lost friends that day will forget that day.

Colin–I knew too many gentlemen like that in my early days. No need to imagine…
September 12th, 2009 at 12:50 pm
@Bruce NV – I, too, knew people in the WTC. It breaks my heart still to imagine what happened to them.
And, by way of apology, I tried to stem the tide of silliness, but may have contributed to it instead with my last comment on this thread. Take care.
